String Quartet

Brief profile

In 2006, four young musicians in Berlin named their newly formed string quartet after a fictional Saracen sorceress. Over the past two decades, the Armida Quartet has lived up to its name: with magical concert moments and an enchanting quartet sound that has earned them various awards, such as the OPUS Klassik (for Vol. 4 of Mozart’s string quartets, CAvi-music). After years of intensive engagement with Mozart’s string quartet works, the Armida Quartet completed the complete recording in 2022.

By being appointed musical ambassadors for the association “Orchester des Wandels Deutschland e.V.”, the ensemble aims to place its work at the service of a socially relevant movement. In addition to adhering to its own sustainability charter and promoting and raising awareness of climate responsibility within the classical music sector, the quartet also gives climate-themed concerts, such as the charity concert for the “Ein Wald für Bach” project.

In 2026, the Armidas will celebrate their 20th anniversary as an ensemble – with the same line-up as ever. This is down to their curiosity and motivation, which remain undiminished even after two decades, as well as the close bond they have developed over the years.

In the summer of 2026, the quartet will be appearing as prize-winners-in-residence at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
