International Music Competition

Brief profile

The 80th Concours de Genève is dedicated to Composition & Conducting and will be held from 7-13 November 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2026, conducting and composition join forces in the finals: the Composition Final serves as the first Final round of the Conducting Competition and will be held on 11 November 2026 at Victoria Hall. Marking the return of conducting to Geneva for the first time since 1994, when Alan Gilbert won first prize, the competition continues its close collaboration with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and highlights contemporary repertoire.

Founded in 1939, the Concours de Genève is one of the world’s leading international music competitions, known for its rare multidisciplinary approach across 26 disciplines. Its mission is to discover, promote, and support young artists on their path to an international career. Today, the competition alternates between eight main disciplines and regularly hosts a composition competition, encouraging new artistic voices.

Beyond the prizes, laureates benefit from a comprehensive career development programme including international engagements, professional recordings, and long-term artistic support—ensuring the competition remains a key platform in the global classical music landscape.
