Amelio Trio

Brief profile

The Amelio Trio combines exceptional cohesion, stylistic versatility and an intuitive openness that has developed since the trio was founded in 2012. Johanna Schubert (violin), Merle Geißler (cello) and Philipp Kirchner (piano) bring the classical repertoire and 20th- and 21st-century music into an artistic dialogue, opening up new perspectives.

For the 2026/27 season, the Amelio Trio has been named an ECHO Rising Star, nominated by the Kölner Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Barbican Centre in London and the Philharmonie du Luxembourg.

The Amelio Trio’s international career has been recognized through major competition achievements, including Second Prize at the ARD Music Competition 2023, First Prize at the German Music Competition, and the Hans Gál Ensemble Prize 2025 awarded by Villa Musica Rhineland-Palatinate and the Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz.

Following their debut album Time in Flux, featuring works by Ives, Beethoven, Mamlok, Brahms and Bertelsmeier, which was released on the label GENUIN in 2025, their new album Beethoven X Schachtner will be released in September 2026 on Hänssler Classic.
