Which two pieces of music would you recommend to someone who knows absolutely nothing about classical music?

Axel Kober: Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” in the Wunderlich recording and Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (the complete incidental music with the interludes).

What was the last musical experience that made you cry?

Axel Kober: At a performance “Die Winterreise” sung by Michael Volle at the Zurich Opera House in late April 2026.

What annoys you about the classical music industry?

Axel Kober: The fast pace of life and everything that is insincere.

What concert ritual could you absolutely not do without?

Axel Kober: Be there an hour before the concert starts.
