Praised by The Telegraph as a “real discovery” and for his “ravishing, unspotted lyricism”, German violinist Tobias Feldmann is one of the most interesting musical personalities of his generation. His multifaceted performances are characterized by stylistic versatility, strong stage presence and emotional depth.

Concerto highlights in the 2023-24 season include return invitations to the BBC Philharmonic (Gubaidulina Violin Concerto No. 2), Bournemouth Symphony (Brahms) and debut at the Pohang International Music Festival as recitalist and in chamber music partnerships. Tobias will also return to the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra (Bartok 1) and Staatskapelle Halle (Mendelssohn). In recital, Tobias will make his debut at the Wigmore Hall, London.

Furthermore in August 2024 he will make his debut at the BBC Proms with the BBC Philharmonic at the Royal Albert Hall London (Beethoven Violin Concerto).

International Violin Competition, recent concerto highlights for Tobias have included performances with Minnesota Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, WDR Sinfonieorchester, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Orquestra Simfonica de Barcelona, BBC Scottish Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, Tampere Philharmonic, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra, Residentie Orkest Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra and Ensemble Resonanz, Moscow State Symphony, Brussels Philharmonic, Utah Symphony, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec; collaborating with Nathalie Stutzmann, David Afkham, Gemma New, Eivind Aadland, John Storgårds, Nicholas Collon, Lorenzo Viotti, Reinhard Goebel, Fabien Gabel, Joana Mallwitz and Marin Alsop amongst others.

An avid chamber musician, Tobias has performed at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Concertgebouw Amsterdam,
Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Vinterfest, Rheingau and Lockenhaus festivals, partnering with Martin Helmchen,
Timothy Ridout, Kian Soltani, Christian Tetzlaff, Nicolas Altstaedt, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Tabea Zimmermann in addition to regular trio performances with Lise Berthaud and Julian Steckel.

Tobias’ discography includes recordings for GENUIN and Alpha Classics, most recently with violin concertos by Sibelius and Rautavaara recorded with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royale de Liège conducted by Jean-Jacques Kantorow.

Born in 1991 in Fulda, Germany, Tobias Feldmann received his first violin lessons at the age of seven before
being accepted into the advanced class of Musikhochschule Würzburg at the age of eight. He then completed
his studies in Berlin at the Musikhochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” with Antje Weithaas. At age of 26, Tobias was appointed as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg making him one of the youngest professors in the history of Germany. At the invitation of the Berliner Philharmoniker, Tobias has performed as guest first concertmaster and since October 2022 has been professor at the renowned Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy“ in Leipzig, Germany.
