Brief profile
Tanja Reitz first studied fine arts in Bremen and then transferred to Philipps University of Marburg, where she studied under Prof. Susanne Neuner and Prof. Eckhard Kremers, among others. She earned a master’s degree in fine arts and artistic concepts.
Tanja Reitz’s works captivate with a visual language that is both immediate and at once light and haunting. In open pictorial spaces, the artist combines precise lines with painterly layers and observations of human conditions that are both sensitive and unsparing.
Far removed from clichés and predictable tropes, she creates multi-layered visual worlds that reflect familiar inner experiences and ways of being. Reitz’s works unsettle, move, and open up a space for the viewer’s own perception and reflection.
Her works have been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout Germany. She lives and works in Cologne.
