70 Years Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund

The Mozart Society of Dortmund will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026 and is one of the most long-established cultural institutions in Dortmund. Over the past decades, its support for young talent and successful concert programmes have made the Mozart Society of Dortmund, as a member of the ‘International Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg’, the most significant association of its kind in the German-speaking world.

Supporting young musicians
Founded in 1956, the Mozart Society of Dortmund has, since 1961, been supporting young musicians aged between 17 and 27 who demonstrate exceptional musical potential and are considered likely to pursue an international career. A panel of experts selects potential scholarship recipients and decides which musicians will receive support. To date, the Mozart Society of Dortmund has supported over 150 young scholarship holders on their journey into the competitive world of music.

Attractive concert events
The Mozart Society of Dortmund consistently succeeds in organising attractive concert appearances for its scholarship holders at its own concert events. The subscription series at the Konzerthaus Dortmund provides an ideal platform for this. Six Mozart Matinees are held each season, during which each scholarship holder performs as a soloist with an internationally renowned orchestra. The Matinees are highly popular thanks to their varied programme and exceptional quality.

Intensive support
The Mozart Society of Dortmund supports its scholarship holders over a period of several years. A key focus of this support is facilitating connections with other renowned organisers, festivals and concert series. In addition, funding is provided for websites, photo shoots, video and CD productions, masterclasses, as well as travel and accommodation for concert performances or auditions.
