Hans Gál Ensemble Prize 2025 for the Amelio Trio

The Amelio Trio has been honoured with the Hans Gál Ensemble Prize 2025. The Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur | Mainz and the Landesstiftung Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz are thus honouring a young chamber music ensemble that, according to the jury, is ‘undoubtedly one of the most up-and-coming formations of its generation’. The trio impresses with its musical expressiveness, intelligent interpretation and great stage presence.

The prize supports both the ensemble’s artistic achievements to date and its future development. The award ceremony will take place on 15 December 2025 at the Academy in Mainz and will be accompanied by a concert by the Amelio Trio.

The ensemble was founded in 2012 and consists of Johanna Schubert (violin), Merle Geissler (cello) and Philipp Kirchner (piano). It recently caused a stir with successes at prestigious competitions. Its highly anticipated upcoming debut album Time in Flux will be released on 5. September 2025.

In the 2026/27 season, the Amelio Trio can also be heard throughout Europe as an ECHO Rising Star.
