‘Triumph of Naturalness*’ – Dvořák Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53, with Antje Weithaas and Camerata Bern
On 15 August 2025, Antje Weithaas and Camerata Bern will release their new recording of Antonín Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53, and String Serenade in E major, Op. 22, on CAvI Music. This is believed to be the first recording of Dvořák’s Violin Concerto and String Serenade in which the soloist also acts as conductor. With technical brilliance, musical sensitivity and a deep understanding of Dvořák’s musical language, Weithaas impressively brings out the emotional range of the compositions. Deutschlandfunk aptly described her artistic brand essence as a ‘*triumph of naturalness’.
Like this, Antje Weithaas is currently in the spotlight of the classical music market with two top awards: in 2024, she was awarded the German Record Critics’ Annual Prize for her complete recording of Beethoven’s sonatas, and in autumn she will receive the OPUS KLASSIK 2025 award as Instrumentalist of the Year. With this new, already 31st studio production, Antje Weithaas adds another heavyweight to her own discography, following recordings of the epoch-making solo concertos by Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Bruch, Berg, Khatchaturian and Vasks.
