Opera productions with Markus Stenz and Äneas Humm awarded with the Premio Abbiati 2026

At the 45th edition of the Premio Abbiati, the production of Hans Werner Henze’s Der junge Lord (The Young Lord) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, conducted by Markus Stenz, was honoured in the ‘Best opera production’ category.

In the ‘Musical Initiative’ category, the prize also went to the Italian premiere of Benjamin Britten’s Owen Wingrave at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, with baritone Äneas Humm in the title role.

In April 2026, Markus Stenz and Äneas Humm will work together in Venice in the production of Wagner’s Lohengrin at the Teatro La Fenice (premiere: 12 April 2026, director: Damiano Michieletto).
