Marcus Bosch’s schedule and projects in the 2017/18 season

Even well beyond Nuremberg itself, many music fans will be going into the current season with a feeling of melancholy: General Music Director Marcus Bosch, who has initiated and realized many remarkable and important projects with the Nuremberg State Philharmonic Orchestra since 2011, drawing the greatest possible degree of flexibility, energy, communicative power and musicality from the ensemble during this period, will be ending the collaboration as of summer 2018.

But before that, alongside nine major concert programmes and operas, Bosch, together with “his team” (Opernnetz), plans nothing less than the conclusion of his Dvořák cycle and new interpretations of two exciting operas that could hardly be more different from each other: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Idomeneo” (director: David Bösch, première 17 February) and Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s “Die Soldaten”, directed by Peter Konwitschny (première 17 March, both in the opera house of Nuremberg’s Staatstheater).

Bosch will also be conducting the new production of the Strauss operetta “Die Fledermaus” at the Cologne Opera. In this version directed by Petra Luisa Meyer, Miljenko Turk will sing the part of Gabriel von Eisenstein, and Natalie Karl and Ivana Rusko will alternate in that of Rosalinde. Bosch has already worked with Petra Luisa Meyer in Heidenheim on “La Bohème” in 2016 and “Cavalleria”/”Pagliacci” in 2014.
