Roland Kluttig – Conductor

Roland Kluttig has been general music director at the Landestheater Coburg since the 2010/2011 season. His productions there of operas by Gluck, Weber, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini and Janáček have attracted great interest across Germany. “What Roland Kluttig draws from his second-tier orchestra in the way of colours, power, authenticity and effect is magnificent,” according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, while the Opernwelt wrote of his 2014 Lohengrin production: “Kluttig creates a miracle that the stage direction then deconstructs.”

In the season 2017/18 Roland Kluttig will conduct the new opera productions of Puccini’s “Tosca” (premiere 30.9.), Dvořák’s “Rusalka” (premiere 22.4.) and Weill’s “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” (premiere 22.6.) at the Landestheater Coburg. Besides the Symphony concerts, he also will conduct the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Zürcher Kammerorchester and the Münchner Symphoniker. Furthermore he’s returning to Stuttgart for Mozarts “Zauberflöte” and is invited to Strasbourg for conducting Weill’s “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny”/”The Seven Deadly Sins”. In March he jumps in for the new production of Paul Dukas‘ „Ariane et Barbe-Bleue“ at the Opera Graz.
